Ready or not, the holiday season is here. For some businesses, it’s a hectic time for filling orders and managing customers. For others, it can mean deafening silence while customers are occupied with other projects.
If you want to hear more than crickets chirping in your office for the next few weeks, here are tips for growing your business during the holidays.
Holiday cards for customers.
Use video to engage your customers.
There are several fun ways you can use video this holiday season. Create a “holiday wishes” video, or shoot a fun lip sync video with your employees. Or create something really unique like Hootsuite did with their owl and holiday fireplace video.
Start a social media conversation that’s not about your business.
Post about a charitable cause you believe in and ask followers to donate this season. Offer to have your business donate money each time someone comments, shares, or uses the hashtag you created for the campaign. When M&Ms fans shared their #MakeMLaugh experiences on Facebook, M&Ms donated money to the Red Nose Day charitable campaign.
Offer holiday discounts on service packages.
Does your business provide haircuts, housecleaning, or oil changes? Give your customers a discount when they purchase three or more services ahead of time. Your customers save money, you get paid in advance, and you’re building customer loyalty. Consider offering discounts on gift cards during the holidays as well.
If you have a storefront, host a canned food drive for a local charity.
Collect nonperishable food donations at your store and offer a discount or special drawing for customers who donate. You’re helping your community and building relationships with your customers at the same time.
